What's the trend in Ibiza music?
 |
By now it is clear to just about everyone that the venues of Ibiza have to come up with something new and interesting to keep the public's interest.
For over a decade, Ibiza's music scene has been dominated by 'Disco DJ's" and this has been extremely sucessful up until the last couple of years.
It seemed as though the various flavors of House, Rap, Hip-Hop, etc. have found a permanent home on Ibiza...almost to the exclusion of live music.
That is changing....and fast.
The trend is back to Live Music...with an emphasis on 'LIVE'. It started with small bars, jam sessions and luxury rural hotels like the ATZARO , the HOTEL HACIENDA, and CAN REYET in rural areas and towns outside of Ibiza Town...
and is now spreading to the biggger Discoteques.

Even the best disk jockeys are feeling the pressure to create 'melodies' in their recordings and are incorporating, live instrumentalists.....flutes, saxophones and guitars.

Sunday afternoon JAM SESSION at 'EL DIVINO' |
In the van guarde amongst the big discoteques is 'El Divino' (Ibiza harbour), who have begun live music sessions on week-ends starting Saturday and Sunday evenings at 11:30 and even jam sessions (FREE ENTRANCE) beginning at 5:30 PM on Sunday afternoons.
The trend back to live Pop, Rock and classical Jazz has been helped not only by some the latest movies like 'Ray' (The film biography of Ray Charles)
....but also by an increased public awareness about what constitutes 'good' music .
If it has been awhile since you've heard some great live music on Ibiza....head for 'El Divino' on a Saturday night or a Sunday afternoon.....you're going to be surprised!
