Most of the discos and clubs will open this summer without opening hour limitations

Only those of Sant Antoni are prohibited from opening before 12 AM according to a new municipal ordinance.

All the discos and clubs of Ibiza, with the exception of those of Sant Antoni,will be able to open their doors this summer with the same schedule as in t previous years (closing at six and with the possibility of opening at eight in the morning), in spite of the commitment which they pledged to the city councils and the Insular Consell the last year, in response to a request bt the delegate of the Government, Ramon Socías, who demanded a "unified hours" for all the island ¡ to "break up the night life" which contributes to the consumption of drugs. Discos and clubs of all municipalities of Ibiza, with the exception of Sant Antoni, will be able to re-open this summer (the majority open at the end of month of May and begining of June) without their schedules beening limited.

Until know, only the City council of Sant Antoni has approved a decree to avoid the opening of ` after hours´ in its municipality. the discos are forced to close at six and will not be able to open until 12 AM, and not till 8 as until now.

Sources of the sector assure that it is not anticipated that Sant Josep nor Ibiza town approves similar norms before the summer. Also, the Balearic Law of Spectacles has still not been approved either, although it is anticipated that it can happen before the summer.

Work permissions for foreigners rise 111% in Ibiza and the rest of Spain

The work permissions granted to foreigners in Ibiza and the rest of Spain increased more than 80 percent between 2004 and 2005, and in Balearic Islands the increase reached 111 percent, according to data of the Ministry of Labor.

30% Increase in passengers of ferrys between Ibiza and Formentera
