The activity of urgent sanitary transport in Ibiza increases and descends in Formentera.

The urgent sanitary transport service of the telephone number 061, of the Balearic Govern, took care last year of 9,030 emergencies in the island of Ibiza, which supposes a 4 percent more than in 2004. More than one third (3,122, which supposes an average of 5.5 every day) were classified as ` emergencies´, which means that the doctors understood that risk for the patients' life existed Although the number of this type of transport descended in a 5 percent with respect to 2004. The activity increased, by 10%, when classified as ` urgent´, in which a there was no special risk to human life.

In Formentera, however, the number of urgencies taken care of by the 061 descended significantly in 2005. The 061 made 244 performances of emergency (0.4 percent less than in 2004) and 352 urgent ones (what supposes a 17 percent less than the previous year). The records of the 061, presented yesterday in Palma by the manager of urgent medical attention, Dolors Riart, also includes the number of helicopter pick-ups between Ibiza and Palma.

Medical consultations by telephone are not divided by islands, the number of telephone medical attentions that have taken place through the power station of 061 (in which the patients can request support with no need to go to a medical center), has also increased. According to Dolors Riart, this fact is due, she states, to the fact that the service "more known".
