The Newest Ibiza Hit!!-Quiet Discos

Some hotels of Playa dŽen Bossa-Ibiza started up parties in which the assistants listen to music played by discjockeys through headphones with adjustable volume to avoid bothering the neighbors with the noise.

Avoiding noises and annoyance to the neighbors is the main motivation of the so called 'Quiet Parties', that are becoming fashionable in Ibiza after being a big hit in places like New York and Glastonbury. People dancing like crazy in a disco. Up to here every thing is normal.....but there is no music!

The young people move to a inaudible beat, as if they had gone mad, but they are not crazy. No. they are not hearing 'internal voices'......What sounds in their heads is music that in played by several discjockeys and listened to through earphones!

The Quiet Parties are a huge success all over the world. They have been going on for over a year in New York and the first time that they were celebrated in Europe, in 2005 in the International Festival of Glastonbury, with more than 3,000 people.

This summer the discos without noise have arrived to Ibiza. Some hotels of the area of Playa dŽen Bossa have used them as an effective way to be able to prolong the celebration beyond midnight without bothering the neighbors.

In previous years they had to end the fun at twelve, as the municipal ordinance of noises establishes, bit now now the dancing (and music) can continue into the wee hours.

An unexpected side benefit .......says one enthusiastic dancer, is that: "It's great!.....if you want to flirt with someone, you can actually talk and be heard!......all you have to do is signal them to lift their earphone!"
