The tourist experts advise to harness "the authentic thing of Ibiza"
"Golf courses, sport harbours and discos can be offered by any tourist destination; it is necessary to foment the true soul of Ibiza".
The necessity of a general consensus to reform and to improve the present tourist model, by means of the public institutions but also of the private companies, was one of the main conclusions reached in the course of the day in the ` tourist model of Ibiza´ celebrated Saturday in the Museum of Arte Contemporáneo and organized by the City council of Ibiza town. The necessity to harness the native and genuine values of Ibiza as opposed to the standardization of the supply, is one of the questions that provoked a greater debate .
In the last round table of the day they participated the director of the school of Vila-Seca (Tarragona), Salvador Antón; the director of the tourism school of Girona, Lluís Mundet; the professor of the Universitat de les Illes Balears (UIB) Javier Rey and the director of the consultoría ICN Artea, Álvaro Zaratiegui.. "
Each destiny must have a basic characteristics that makes it unique. Everybody can offer sport golf courses, ports, discos and this type of things. But we must promote what is unique, which in our case would be the soul of Ibiza", affirmed Lurdes Costa summarizing the reached conclusions. "the imitateable thing, which are easily reproducible, are the same everywhere and it is possible to find them in every destination", indicated the councilwoman of Tourism. The supply of sun and beach, will maintain its roll, "but many other things exist which could complete it" and that at the present time are not sufficiently promoted.
