Ibiza is searching for solutions to the harbor chaos in summer

The Authorities of the Harbor of Ibiza have been weeks negotiating with sport ports that operate in the harbor of Ibiza, for solutions to organize the port, during this summer.

"We have hard times ahead of us 'till the commercial dock of Botafoc is done", explained harbor authorities yesterday.

There are several proposals, some want to eliminate to the maximum amount of traffic of merchandise to make space for tourism. however, there is no agreement at the moment. Next week, once easter is finalized, they will search for solutions with the affected companies. There is a clear increase of the total harbor activity and the infrastructures are really insufficient until the Botafoc harbour is finished.

Ibiza : Pura Vida reinitiates its season of concerts

Pura Vida in Es Cana, Ibiza resumes its' season of concerts this Sunday, begining 9:30 at night with the predicted participation of the pair of jazz musicians, Alexis and Klaus.

Melodrama - a group of techno jazz that also makes theater on stage and the flamenco group of Paco Romero. The evening will conclude with a jam session.

The air traffic increases 30% with respect to Easter of 2005

Easter Week of last year was specially negative for island tourism because it started in March. Ferry transports like Baleària and Acciona-Trasmediterranea will increase the seats available this year.

The airport of Ibiza anticipates receiving 57,320 passengers in the period between Friday 7th and next Monday 17th of April, which supposes an increase of 30 percent with respect to the numbers of Easter 2005.

Another very significant data from AENA (the Spainsh Airport Management Company) is the number of airplanes that are going to operate in Ibiza, since last year at these dates 498 planes operated and this year 790 planes.

On the other hand Baleària puts more than 30,000 seats in ships of high speed between Ibiza and Dénia, plus 10,000 vehicles, during the vacations of Easter. The shipping company has programmed seven extra services of fast ferries ` Federico Garcia Lorca´ and ` Nixe´ during the 13th and 17th of April, to facilitate the transfers between the port of Sant Antoni and Dénia in the last days of the Eastern holidays.

Super fast ferrries will also cover the line during the rest of the holidays. The extraordinary services will begin Wednesday 12th of April and will finalize Tuesday 18th of the same month, which will allow the passengers to extend to the maximum their vacations of Easter .

Acciona-Trasmediterranea will supply the Easter holidays with nearly 100,000 seats for the communications with the rest of the Balearic islands. The company has programmed special services that began the last weekend and that will extend until the 17th of April to reinforce the conections from Barcelona and Valencia with Ibiza, Maò and Palma de Mallorca, as much in ships of high speed like in surface ferrys. Acciona emphasizes that it is going to double the direct daily services of high speed between Barcelona and Ibiza, as well as Palma-Ibiza.
