The price of the rent of the house and apartments has increased to a 3.5 percent in the last year in Ibiza and the others islands of the baleares, below the state increase, that was of the 4.2 percent, according to the data of the National Statistic Institute, that locates to the islands between the five communities in which less the rentings have raised. In which the price of the rents have grown a 0.8 percent already this year, which also supposes an inferior increase than the state average.

Residents of Ibiza have a average of 7.5 years of studies, below the state average

The citizens of Ibiza and the rest of Balears have studied an average of 7.5 years, slightly below the state average, that is of 7.6 years, according to a work made by Bancaja that approaches the disparity of the degree of academic knowledge of the residents in each autonomy. In this respect, the study reveals that the educative level of the citizens of Ibiza and the rest of Balears presents a coefficient of inequality of the 0.611, which locates to the Archipelago around the average Spanish, who is of the 0,644. This value reflects that the global inequality is equivalent to a situation in which half of the population had a 64 percent more of human capital than the average national and other half, a 64 percent less than that average. The report indicates that Murcia, Basque Country, Catalunia, the Canary Islands and Balears are the communities in which there is a smaller interpersonal inequality as far as the level of studies. The study demonstrates that in Spain "a great inequality between the educative levels of its citizens exists", between which emphasizes the case of Ceuta, Melilla, Extremadura, Andalucia and Murcia. According what this indicates, the human capital, measured by the average years of study of the population, "is a fundamental variable in the determination of the salarie levels", because the opportunities of use and the wages of the individuals depend on their human capital.

If you want to increase your human Capital you can start with our spanish course, street spanish is also available but we do not make us responsable if you use it.

The sign of six invading seaweed in Ibiza

A scientific team of the Mediterranean Institute of Advanced Studies (Imedea) of the UIB will analyze in 2007 the effects of six species of invading seaweed in Ibiza and Formentera. The investigators are developing a molecular technique to collect data on the diversity of the populations of the marine bottoms. The study wants to clarify if the invasion has risks for the future of the living beings.

A group of investigators of the Mediterranean Institute of Advanced Studies (Imedea), related to the Superior Center of Investigaciones Cientificas (CSIC) and to the Universitat of the Illes Balears (UIB) will apply in waters of Ibiza and Formentera the next year a molecular technique to collect data on the diversity of the plant populations (of the bottom of the sea) that will allow to analyze the effects of six species of invading seaweed in the islands and other zones of the Mediterranean, according to the Newspaper of Ibiza doctor Jorge Miguel Terraces, investigator responsible for this study. The team is already carrying out several analyses with the objective to know the operation the marine ecosystems and to understand the consequences of the arrival of the new species that during the last years have colonized extensive zones of the coasts of Balears and the Mediterranean in general. The investigators try to increase the knowledge on the alterations that take place in the coastal habitat, not only those caused by the invading plants, but also by the human activities. The equipment will analyze in a first stage the study the degree of invasion of six species of exotic marine seaweed introduced in the balearic communities to identify which of the bentónicos ecosystems are most susceptible to be invaded. To study the risk for the future of the biodiversity, a question difficult to anser, explained Terrados. Taxifolia has settled down which the oceanic Posidonia species has certain capacity to repel the invasion of some of the seaweed, like the racemosa Caulerpa, and to coexist without altering in a significant way with, like the Caulerpa. In the case of the rodofíceas, known vulgarly like red seaweed, still lack to determine its effects after its colonization. The team of scientists indeed uses these invasions like "natural experiments" to come near to the operation of the invaded ecosystem and to know its natural development and the paper its biodiversity in its future preservation. The molecular technique to obtain values of the specific diversity in the bentónicas communities of seaweed constitutes a pioneering experience that is put for the first time in practice to study this type of ecosystems. It will allow to gather a greater number of samples in a smaller time term than the usual one plus to make more general studies of the relations between the biodiversity and the ecosystems, since it is able to include all the organisms that comprise of communities like the one of posidonia. Yet it, the investigators will be able to design in a future campaigns to protect the native marine prairies if outside precise by the threat of the invaders.

The desalted water will be distributed to all the island of Ibiza by 2007

To end of next year will be completed the network of drinkable water supply from the three desaladoras plants (Sant Antoni, Ibiza and in the future one in Santa Eulària) with a volume anticipated of 40,000 cubic meters daily, according to the Secretary General of the Balearic Agency of Water, Miquel Costa. The agreement signed between the central Government and the Balearic Govern for the execution of a series of hydraulic works in Ibiza and Formentera contemplates the construction of the regulating water deposits with the purpose of being able to supply to the different municipalities of the islands, with a considered initial budget in 17,5 million euros, that will be the responsibility of the Ministry of Medio ambiente in their totality. "After the interconnection of the desaladoras we needed the construction of deposits and with this agreement we will be able to also construct the branch towards Santa Gertrudis, Sant Miquel and Sant Joan, in addition to the location of deposits to later store and to distribute the water in each one of these localities", clarified Costa. The agreement also establishes the construction of an intermediate deposit in Sant Rafel, as well as a branch from the desaladora of Ibiza towards the zone of sa Platja d´en Bossa with a deposit of 10,000 cubic meters, that will be the biggest one that will be constructed. Also, a new conduction will settle from the desaladora plant of Sant Antoni to Cala de Bou, to supply to the tourist and residential zone. "With all these works we finalized the network of desalted water distribution in Ibiza, with possibilities to supply all municipalities, although the domiciliary distribution will depend acording with the respective city councils, that are the people in charge of this matter",explained Costa.
