Telefonica puts a optical fiber cable underwater between Ibiza and Formentera

The Telfonica telephone company already has connected the optical fiber underwater cable between Ibiza and Formentera to improve the system of telephone communication of Formentera, that is made until now by means of a radio link system. Conseller of Formentera, Pep Mayans, explained that at the moment the mentioned company is making "the connectivity test" and that in the next week there will be results. The tended optical fiber cable between the Ibiza and formentera, in addition to the service of voice, will allow the data transmission in ADSL at greater speed of the present one that does not reach a mega, besides of being very irregular. Also it will allow the transmission of television signals. Due to different misfortunes arisen in the arrival of the cable from Formentera, the beginning of the service has been delayed, although conseller trusts that the new optical fiber connection is operative as soon as possible. On the other hand, Mayans explained that due to report of environmental impact of the project of the tower for the repeaters of televising signal that the Balearic Govern has predicted to install in sa Talaiassa (the Mola), the construction has been delayed although it assured that the construction must be on the verge of beginning done since the work is given and the materials bought. This tower is a old demand of the population since the summer months were a fading of the signal takes place that makes it practically impossible to see the different channels. Mayans trusted that the televisions are seen correctly "for the World-cup of Football" that is celebrated in the month of June in Germany.

Ibiza: Santa Eulària grants 60,000 euros to the agriculturists to maintain the landscape

The mayor of Santa Eulària, Ibiza, Vicent Guasch, has renewed the agreement of collaboration with the Agricultural Cooperative, by which the Consistorio yields to the agrarian organization an economic aid of 60,000 euros. An advance of this sum of 12,000 euros was disbursed yesterday at the moment of signing the agreement. On the side of the cooperative his president signed the agreement, Antonio Ferrer Noguera, that went to the City council accompanied by another director. The agreement stands out that the Consistorio grants this aid within its competitions of protection of the enviroment. Both parts want to maintain the fruit sector of dry land in the field of Ibiza to guarantee the presence of almonds tree, carob trees, fig trees and olive trees, that have traditionally conformed the agricultural landscape of the island of Ibiza. If these species disappeared, the landscape would be modified. The little productions of the last years have undercapitalized the operations, that have difficulties to carry out the pruning and to replantar the dead trees. The agreement establishes the cooperation, so that the City council contributes bottoms of its budget to subsidize until the 50 percent of the works of pruning, sale of trees and expenses of population and repoblación. Vicent Guasch indicated in addition that the City council has open the term for the request of aids for the construction of stone walls in the farmer property. It also indicated that from the year the 2000 Consistorio has financed the accomplishment of 4.4 kilometers of walls of these characteristics, with total a municipal investment of 181,728 euros. The walls located near the highways have preference, with the purpose of offering a good image.
