Sport will bring 10,00 visitors to the island of Ibiza in Easter

The sport tourism increases a 500% from 1995. The agencies still have seats of airplane with normal prices and tickets boat, only from Dénia. In Easter of this year it is predicted that 10,000 people visit Ibiza and Formentera who will arrive for the different sport events that will be developed in the islands. This number supposes 5 times more the visitors who come for this same reason arrived in 1995 (2,000 people). Since then, the growth has been exponential every year until 2004, when it got up to 10,000 visitors - increase motivated by the dispute of one of the world-wide Triathón in Ibiza -, with the exception of 2005, in which 8,600 people traveled to the island because Easter fell in March and numerous sport acts were carried out in dates previous and later to this vacacional period. For this year, some groups of followers of the sport equipment have had problems to reserve their tickets together, to arrive at the island. Nevertheless, sources of the agency Ibiza Trips assured that there are still seats left to travel to the island from Madrid, Valencia or Barcelona days 10, 11, 12 and 13 of April (Thursday Santo), although seats are with the normal prices that they are not subject to any discount. The economic prices are limited concrete dates, are all occupied. As far as the arrival to the island by sea problems for the reserve of seats in the passage between Dénia and Eivissa do not exist either during such days, although it is already practically impossible to reserve a seat in the boat from Barcelona to Sant Antoni, mentioned the agency . On the other hand, it is predicted that they open this year around a 10% more hotels, according to different hotel sources. The increase could suppose around thousand more seats that would be added to approximately the 8,000 that they put the past year on sale. The fact that this year the Easter falls in April made to the hotelkeepers decided to open and to maintain the operation until the beginning of the tourist season.

The Bus users in Ibiza is stuck in 3,6 million pasengers a year for the last 9 years

From 1997 to 2005, the number of sold bus tickets in Ibiza is stuck around the 3.598.000 annual on average, only with 216,000 passengers more during the past year in comparison with 1997, although between both exercises the numbers have oscillated slightly. The increase of the population, coding in around 28,000 inhabitants more in this period of nine years, has not supposed a proportional increase of the use of the bus of regular line. Based on the data, the campaigns of the public institutions either do not seem to have been successful to harness the use of the collective transport.
