Discrimination in Ibiza?
The answer is YES.
What do you call it when European Common Market Residents of Ibiza enjoy discounts of up to 40% in the prices of airline or marine transport to and from the mainland, but non-common market citizens with registered residency, (i.e. with a birthpalce of USA, Canada, South America, Switzerland) or any other country outside of the European Common Market and WHO PAY EXACTLY THE SAME TAXES, do not have a right to ANY of these discounts?
You are correct: It is nothing less than SHAMEFUL INDEFENSABLE DISCRIMINATION, based on place of birth. It cannot be 'explained' or 'justified' it is just there at it is very ugly.
And it has been going on for a very long time (more than 10 years).
This discrimination even applies to husbands, wives and children of Ibiza residents, who had the bad luck not to be born in, or did not have citizenship in, a European Common Market Country.
Even more amazing, The local authorities give only lip-service about 'looking into it' or mumble absurdities about 'inquiries sent to the Defender of the Citizenry'.
