The Government anticipates to invest 5 million euros in the airport of Ibiza

The central Executive announces diverse performances destined to increase the security of the terminal of ibiza, like the improvement of the emergency landing track.

The central Government anticipates to invest during 2006 a total of 5.07 million euros in the aeroportuarias facilities of Ibiza, that will go specially directed to improve the emergency landing track, the parking of airport and to support the land expropriation. Other performances of the Government will be destined to increase the security of the airport, make works in the terminal or improve the positioning system. However, it will not invest any amount in the area of movement of airplanes (until 2008, when it anticipates to destine to this point 50,000 euros), in the renovation of internal facilities or performances of structural reinforcement in the terminal building, which are projected for 2009. The number of investments is reduced almost to half, if compared with the numbers of 2005, date in which an investment of nine million euros was surpassed. In 2007, an increase of the post is expected, since they anticipate investments by an amount of 18.730.000 euros. This way, the Government considers that, from 2002 to 2010, the real investment of the State in Ibiza is of 84.888.000 euros. Accounts that do not adjust to the traffic that undergoes the airport pitiuso, according to the senator by Ibiza and Formentera, Antoni Marí Carraca, that remembered that an increase of a million seats for this season is anticipated, according to the movements programmed by the organism Spanish Airports and Navegacion Aerea (AENA). These numbers locate to the facilities of Ibiza in the fourth place with a greater growth in number of flights with a total of 7,084, only surpassed by Barcelona, Palma and Madrid-Barajas, "although in the three last ones, these numbers will suppose a similar increase in number of seats supplied and not as high as in the case of Ibiza", according to Marí. The Government could do modifications in the budgetary forecasts depending on the anticipated aerial adjustment as far as the traffic although in 2005 a tendency of inferior growth to initially anticipated did not come to any change "when considering in relation to the number of commercial planes and of passengers", according to the senator pitiuso. On the other hand, Antoni Marí remembered that the investments of the Balears are not compared with those of the Canary Islands, where they expect superior investments to improve infrastructures ".
