My husband & I spent a week at Lux Mar during June of 2007. We loved it and are going back for 15 days in June 2009. The views from our balcony were stunning, the service excellent, the location great and the food really commendable. This is not 5 star - but are as good (if not better) than you can get at their rates.
Hope your experience are as good as ours were....

Mysekf and 2 other friends went to ibiza for a relaxing holiday in april of 2003. we were very disapointed, lux mar hotel has got to have been the most frightening place ive ever been.
when we were there we made friends with the other epople in the hotel, first thing that happened was the staff walking into our rooms, this happened to more than one person, when we were out we had to leave music on make people think we were in. my friend was sleeping somebody walked in and and looked though the wardrobe as she slept.
another friend we had met was on holiday by himself, we came in one night and we admit, we were loud, and the security guard started fighting with our friend, we saw the whole thing, later that night somebody came into his room and beat him up, the next day he was thrown out of the hotel and charged 600 euros for damages, which was not his fault .. was staff.
the food was appaling, one day i had a pizza from the hotel and the best way to describe it was 'like blue tac'
the rooms were not cleaned once, we had to buy our own toilet roll,
the view from out room was disgraceful, we backed on to the locals apartments and constantly got greif from some youths, not much older than us in the opposite balcony we looked onto building work and a main road.
the local beach was horrible, dirty used sanitry towels everywhere and lots of rubbish and junk.
i would definatly say to anyone consider going to ibiza go to san antonio, was the best part of the holiday for us, absolutly loved it!
but whatever you do DO NOT STAY IN THE LUX MAR!

We nearly had a holiday from hell due to this hotel. My friend and I were given a ground floor room locaated next door to the restaurant which was noisy. The balcony view was that of a brick wall and the kitchen to the resturant was located to the right, where piles of rubbish and cardboad boxes over flowed onto our balcaony. The smell from outside was inside the room - It smelt awful!! We were two girls on our own and we did not feel secure and happy with what was given. We were told that we could not be moved out until Tuesday (we arrived on a Friday AM!) We asked repeatedly to be moved and after meeting other guests who checked in after us who a better room at a cheaper price we asked again if it was possible and they told us it was not. They also said we should contact our travel agent and we told them we booked it through Hotel Ibiza. Then they informed us that travel agents get better deals!!! The attiude of a couple of members of staff was both unhelpful and unfriendly. We sent a letter on several occasion to the manager who to this day has not replied!!

Disgusting hotel full of plebs and homos. If you really want to treat yourself take the private suite in the dungeon but make sure you check any rope you have in your bag in the safes because you will probably use it around your neck. ...

I too had read the comments about the luxmar appartments and when first arriving thought yikes!!! I think the other reviews are a little unfair. The appartments themselves were great. very spacious and being on the end we had a HUGE balcony! the kitchens were well equipped too. the location of the appartments was ok. Just out of the busy streets but ideal walking distance. Never found the chinese which was mentioned in other reviews. Did sample one and the food was foul!! Certainly reccomend the pizza restaurant close to the old town. Toscana! Food was superb.
In all we enjoyed th e hoilday and Benidorm wasn't as bad as we thought! I think we picked the right time of the year to go!

I stayed at the Lux Mar with friends in 2011. The last day of my stay we left our bags in a deposit room of the hotel, waiting for our flight. We returned to retrieve our bags and mine was stolen. Before leaving I went to the local police to file a complaint and claim and was told to do so locally in Italy, which I did. All this was communicated to the hotel Director, Tove Mueller. She appeared to follow up the claim but, in fact, I was asked to make a list of my belongings and the value of the loss, which I did. I was then given a complete run around. She said she had to change insurance agency because they did not act responsibly vis a vis stolen claims. She then said I would be contacted, but this did not happen. I phoned the hotel at least 10 times, and have written as many emails, to no avail. I would never recommend this hotel. The baggage room was not guarded and they did not assume responsibility for the occurence, neither was their communication suitable. ...
