Once a year, IBIZA-HOTELS colaborates in a 3-day ibiza JAZZ WORKSHOP and CONCERT.
The Ibiza Jazz workshop and Master classes are open to all musicians FROM ANY CONTRY, but the emphasis is on all types of Saxophones, Flutes, woodwinds, guitars and Jazz improvisation.
The Ibiza Jazz Workshops
will take place on the 25, 26, 27 of October, 2007,

These all day long intensive sessions involve group and individual attention by some the greatest names in Jazz, who come to Ibiza specifically for this event. In 2007, Ihe workshop will be conducted by MARK VINCI (Saxophone) and JAN VINCI (Flute) and will include New York Master classes from New York Jazz Guitarist PAUL MEYERS
The workshops culminate in a highly poplular concert which will talke place on OCTOBER 27-involving Ibiza's best professional musicains, all participants in the workshop, and of course, the stars...our invited guests, which will take place in the brand new Palacio de Congresos of
Santa Eulalia.

El Teatro Pereyra
A perennial open all year favorite music bar situated in the center of Ibiza town...one block from the Vara Del Rey, and close to the old fortress walls.
The owner operater, the affable Dutch Jazz pianist 'Eric' is there most evenings.
The music starts late: 11:30 PM- 2:30 AM
The 'Pereyra' musicians are some of the finest on the island

Guarana
Sunday nights at Guarana have establshed themselves as a favorite 'insider' live music venue.
The musicians are competent to excellent and the music ranges from Blues to Funky to Pop and Rock favorites.
Bar services are fast and good-looking and the prices are reasonable (for a no-cover, no-minimum music club).

HOW DID THE DJs AND DISCO MUSIC GET TO BE SO DOMINANT?
WHAT ALTERNATIVES TO THE DISCO CLUBS ARE THERE?
Ans: When Spain entered the Common Market, it was required to agree to a series of laws already in force in the rest of Europe, regarding the terrible abuse if intellectual property in Spain.
SGAE (SOCIEDAD GENERAL DE AUTORES Y EDITORES)
the Society of Autors and editors, quickly discovered that the discoteques of Ibiza had been making huge amounts of money by playing music which was protected by international intellectual property rights treaties and copyrights, effectively, 'misappropriating' the property of composers and musicians from around the world without paying a cent in compensation.
Their legal attacks on the discoteques was devastating, and resulted in huge fines for the offenders.
The reaction of the clubs was very fast.......the death of almost all good pop, jazz and standards music, and the installation of the DJ's CD...created with computers, based on looped, pounding, monotonous rythm tracks, but which are available for free and devoid of intellectual creativity.
There is almost never a melody associated with this type of music......nobody walks out of a disco club whistling or humming a melody he /she had been exposed to while inside.
But, this type of music was (and is) the cheapest to produce, and avoided the infringement of composer's rights.
The rest is publicity....hoopla.....millions of Euros on advertising and promotion of this or that DJ in this or that club or discoteque.
