Gisela
G., from Sant Joan in the island’s north, is the master
of the game using knit and purl like no other. Each millimetre
of stitching that is created in her studio is like a natural occurrence.
Only exqu-isite materials may apply for being worked into her
creations. For her light and airy summer clothes the knit artist
uses cotton, linen and silk among other materials.
Whether dress, pants, skirt, one-piece, top, shorts, underw-ear
or a flowing shawl – each and every Gisela G. piece is un-ique.
Each has its own charm and is full of creativity and inspiration.
Each shows a pron-ounced feeling for form and colour. It doesn’t
matter if it is ‘simply’ dyed one colour, complexly
printed or hand painted.
Each winter Gisela G. scours the world for exquisite new raw materials
and for witty and unusual ideas. In her 2004 summer collection
she has once again worked in numerous unknown aspects. For example
she combines transparent with solids. High-class silk lace worked
into pure sheep’s wool. How? Very good question. But the
secrets of her techniques are an area where the artist remains
secretive. Understandable and for good reason, after all, Gisela’s
pieces are so pretty that there are many who would love to copy
them.
The colours of this season rem-ind one of Tahiti. Delicate yellow
tones, fresh lime-green, gentle blues, 
orange
and pink in all var-iations, alongside earth tones. Also a lot
of black and white. The materials and colours are not the only
difference this season, the imaginative knitting-queen has also
been working on forms. Only the creator herself knows how some
of the pieces are actually put on. They are extravagant creations
full of exciting secrets and as always, Gisela G. remains true
to her motto, “Fashion should make women even more beautiful.
It should emph-asise the sensuality and feminin-ity of the woman
wearing it.”
