The fashion world was
paying close attention to Barcelona last month as Spainsh top
designers presented their bridal collections. It could even be
that the dress for the Spanish royal wedding was presented there.
An Ibiza designer also participated.
The Argentinian Ruben
Perlotti Sposa has been a passionate fashion designer for haute
couture and pret a porter for almost twenty years. Since 1999
he has been exclusively designing bridal gowns on Ibiza and his
eclectic designs have given him a fine reputation here on the
Balearic Islands. Now Ruben has the chance to conquer mainland
Spain and perhaps the rest of the world.
The designer will be represented on June 18th at the Pasarela
Gaudi Novia. Almost 150 designers applied to take part, but he
was one of only 14 selected to present their 2005 collection on
the coveted catwalk. Among them are well known names including
Jesús del Pozo, Victorio & Luchino, Hannibal Laguna
and Devota & Lomba. The privilege of the invitation bestowed
upon Perlotti fills him with pride. “The selection criteria
are quite rigorous, whether it is the materials, the cut or the
actual making of the dresses,” explains the designer. More
than 300 journalists from around the world will be watching the
bridal gowns come down the catwalk.
Each designer will be allowed to present sixteen designs. Ruben
Perlotti’s favourite creation is the “Sueños
de la noche”. This wonderful bridal gown pays homage to
his beloved island through its colours: turquoise, sand and coral.
“It is a very sensual garment for a very special day,”
says the designer.
