Absolutely terrible! Nothing like the description or photo! BEWARE! unfriendly staff, no security, dirty sheets, walls, floors! lack of standard equipment. Apparently a pillow is a luxary and not a necessity! much nicer places to stay for much less money...

This 'hotel' is absolutely revolting. Our room was at the back of the hotel-it could have been in downtown Iraq it was so disgusting. The rooms are tiny, if you are in a group of 4 and only want a room to sleep in with no comforts whatsoever and wont be deteered from booking this hole, get 2 rooms-one room is not big enough. The facilities are crap-we had enough cutlery for 2 small children. We had to ask for more. The maid changed our sheets and cleaned once during our week long stay, 4 days in after I had a stand up row with her. She wasnt aware that I speak spanish and could thus hear every comment she made about us. Oh, our Irish neighbours stole our chairs off our balcony-beware the people who habit this hotel are pretty nasty. I appreciate this is meant to be a budget hotel, but my god catalina takes budget to a new level! The reception staff for what its worth do try and help out, but not much they can do when the place isnt fit for human habitation. IF YOU CAN BOOK ELSEWHERE!!!!!!!!!...

Good price, good location. The apartments are really good value for money. Its fairly clean and really comfortable! The cleaner came to our room every day and changed towels/sheets as and when we requested! We knew there was no pool but there is plenty of choice... the hotel is situated only a few steps from cafe savannah so literally walk out the front door and your on the sea front. Strongly recommend hotel Catalina!...

Whatever you do don't book this hotel regardless of how cheap it is. The cleaners will steal you stuff and you will be left out of pocket. This hotel shouldn't be classed as a 3 star which it is by some of the travel agents. If you think that you should get your bedding changed at least once a week then you will be mistaken as we didn't. We were booked in for 2 weeks but couldnt hack it and left just after a week. Now trying to get out money back which is proving to be a nightmare. Please don't book here....

When arriving at the hotel it was nothing like the picture, the reception area is tiny and the staff weren't the happiest of people! The receptionist took the rest of the money we owed (baring in mind we paid for a sea view)gave us the key and sent us on our way. The lift is on the first floor which means you have quite a few stairs to climb with your bags! We arrived at our room and it was at the back of the hotel no view and was dull brown bedding and curtains again nothing like the pictures and had a smell which wasn't the most pleasant! I complained asking for my money back as we had paid for a sea view but not got one. The receptionist told me after a few minutes of arguing that we could have a room with a view but i had to give her time to clean it but we was not to touch the room we was in. So after 3 hours I went back to be told I could not have the room. I again said I want my money back but then surprise surprise we was able to have the room. So after another hour of waiting we finally got the sea view. This hassle could of been avoided. Again the room didn't look like on the pic but we had to grin and bare it ! It was cheap...but definitely not cheerful!...

Oh my god how dissapointed were we i stayed here 2 years ago it it was basic but clean after visiting again on the 19.5.10 how it has changed disgusting ruined our holiday and wished we had paid extra for the accomodation and gone else where . Pretty much same comments as everyone else dirty plates and cutlery hair's all over the worktop ,bed, bath and sink . Wire's being held in place by brown tape . Dried up sick all over the toilet seat .Dirty mouldy towel coivering air vent in bathroom . I can handle staying in basic cheap accomodation but this took the biscuit . I strongly advise anyone thinking of staying here NOT TO unless you want your holiday ruined . ...

If you are not so interested in residing in a stellar room, this hotel is fine due to the cheap rates and good location. That being said, travelers beware: when staying at the Hotel Catalina, make sure you come equipped with an alarm clock. My boyfriend and I realized this first hand on our last day there. We had asked the man at the front desk to provide an early morning wake-up call, ensuring a timely arrival at the airport to make our flight. He wrote down the request, but it was never fulfilled. We ended up waking a half hour before our plane took off (mind you, it is about a 20 minute drive to the airport). We gathered our belongings at light speed and ran out of the hotel, took a taxi to the airport, and, of course, missed our flight. We ended up having to pay a total of $600 for two more plane tickets thanks to the "courtesy" of the Hotel Catalina staff and their utter incompetence. Lovely vacation, but don't trust certain members of this staff with a crucial schedule. ...

Good price, rooms are clean and u cannot beat the location. 2minutes from mambos and far enough away from the west end for it not to be crazy whatever time u get back in. Stayed across near the egg last year due to the renovation and hotel was similar price but nowhere near as good and in the chav part of town...
