GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Along the coastline the landscape you will find is especially unique. Due to the extreme conditions of the climate in this area, the local species , mostly small, are very resistant and unique. The SEA VIOLET (genre Limonium) for example and the SEA FENNEL (Fonoll mari, Chrinthmum maritimum), are some of the smaller kinds. Then larger ones such as the ALEPO PINE (Pi, Pinus halepensis) and the JUNIPER PINE (Savina, Juniperus phoenicea) along with the many bushes like lenticus and rosemary . The waters are known worldwide for their unique sea basins. They are very clear and the sun shining in them, creates a beautiful play of light. Shallow beaches and coves assure visitors' safety and fun. Winds in the summer are of low intensity. Mostly they come from sea inland and have a Southern or Eastern direction. The beaches, mainly small and surrounded by mountains and capes, are well protected in case of strong winds. |
